Nancy Lou Wright, age 79, formerly of Belle Plaine, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. Private graveside services and burial will be Monday, May 11, 2020 at the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Compass Memorial Healthcare or Rose Haven Nursing Home, both of Marengo, in Nancy’s memory. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is handling the arrangements.

Nancy was born December 12, 1940 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Willis Wright and Edith Norton Wright. She received her education in the Belle Plaine schools and graduated with the Belle Plaine High School Class of 1959.

She started working at Funk’s Seed in Belle Plaine, as a bookkeeper and then progressed to computer work, remaining with the company for 35 years.

Nancy was a member of Rainbow at an early age, achieving rank of Worthy Advisor. She participated in 4-H, Sorosis Club, the Funk Retirees, and the local volunteer programs. She enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing knitting and crafts. Nancy was active in her church, singing in the choir and participating in Bible Studies. Although she never claimed a lifelong church affiliation, she was a lifelong Christian.

She loved genealogy and wrote many history/genealogy stories of Iowa County, her family, and the settlers. She presented many interesting programs on those subjects. In later years, when she made her home at Rose Haven, Nancy loved spending time on her computer and on her phone.

Nancy has no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, and both sets of grandparents, along with many uncles, aunts, and extended family.

Nancy wished to thank the staff of Rose Haven Nursing Home for their wonderful care. She loved being part of the Rose Haven family.
