ary Worrall, 74 of Montezuma and formerly of Deep River, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 10, 2019 at his Montezuma home. Funeral services were Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 at the United Church in Deep River. Burial was in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River.

The family held an open visitation and luncheon following the service beginning around noon and lasting until 1:30 pm at the Community Center in Deep River.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the United Church of Deep River, the Deep River Fire Department and the Montezuma Fire Department. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Leighton Worrall, the son of Leighton and Eva Grimm Worrall was born on December 29, 1944 at North English, Iowa. He graduated from English Valleys High School with the class of 1963 where he was a valuable football player. Gary worked with his parents on the farm and was united in marriage to Vera Wyant on July 27,1968 at the United Church in Deep River. To this union three sons were born, Pat, Danny and Scott.

Gary helped his father-in-law farm and farmed on his own after they retired. He also worked construction and was very proud of being a big part of the English Valleys School gymnasium project. He also worked at Victor Plastics and Victor Manufacturing along with farming. Gary was also a feed and seed salesman for O’s Gold Seed. He and Vera enjoyed traveling having been to Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Colorado, Florida and many other places.

Gary loved woodworking, fishing, farming, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed camping at the Iowa State Fair for several years. He was a member of the United Church, National Farmers Organization (NFO) and won several seed yield contests for O’s Gold.

Gary will always be remembered for his teasing, his sense of humor and how gracious and giving he was.

His memory will be honored by his wife, Vera of Montezuma, his sons; Pat (Kim) Worrall of Park View, Iowa, Danny Worrall of New Sharon and Scott (Amy) Worrall of Montezuma; his seven grandchildren; Katie (Andy) Flander, Jordan Worrall, McKenna Worrall, Breanna Worrall, Bryce Worrall, Brody Worrall, and Cooper Worrall; his sisters, Frances (Mike) Thomas of Palo, Iowa and Janice (Gary) Semler of Keswick, Iowa.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leighton and Eva Worrall; and his two sisters, Marlene Deatsch and Sandra Worrall in infancy.
