Marie died on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at her home near Harper, at the age of 84 years.

Celebration of Life Service was held 11:00 am on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English. Visitation was held from 9:00 until service time on Monday. Burial will be 1:30 pm on Monday, at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.

Marie Lewis was born September 16, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph & Gladys (Reinert) Lewis. She attended Manchester College. She moved to Iowa in 1969 and helped maintain the family home and take care of her mother and later worked at Maplewood Manor in Keota for 10 years.

Marie was a member of the English River Church of the Brethren in South English where she was the church organist and was a charter member of the Keokuk County Arts. She enjoyed woodworking, gardening, taking care of her sheep and cats.

Marie is survived by her brother Dave (Peggy) Lewis of Rapid River, MI; two nieces Selynda and Tasha; a nephew Jay (Ashley); numerous great nieces & nephews; two cousins Betty Smith of Amana and Judy Dobson of Iowa City; and a special friend Paul Coffman of South English.

She was preceded by her parents.
