Dorothy M. Kleinmeyer, 92, of Williamsburg, passed away at Mercy Iowa City on Monday, May 13, 2019. Previously, she was lovingly cared for at Highland Ridge Nursing Home in Williamsburg. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Pastor Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday before the service. Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Iowa City Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Mike and wife Claudia of Williamsburg; grandsons, Blake (Ann) Kleinmeyer and Jared (Lea) Kleinmeyer; and a granddaughter, Sheridan (Chris) Penney; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Irene McCulla of Grinnell; and her brother, Charles Healey of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chub; and her cherished daughter, Carol.
Dorothy Marie Healey was born April 23, 1927, in Thornburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Zola Jack Healey. She was raised in Marengo and graduated from Marengo High School. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Dorothy taught two years each at Williamsburg and Ladora Elementary. She and Charles "Chub" Kleinmeyer were married on May 22, 1949, in Marengo. The couple resided all their married life in Williamsburg.
Dorothy worked 21 years for the U.S. government and seven years for the Iowa and Amana Welcome Center. She retired in 1989.
Dorothy was a member of the Marcia Federated Club, the VFW Auxiliary and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed golf, bridge and spending time with family and friends.
