Frances Whittier Downing was born November 2, 1936 in Dover, New Hampshire, the daughter of Leon Arthur and Elsie (Card) King. She married Harold Joseph Downing. Frances was an assembler for Rockwell Collins in Coralville for many years.
Frances was a leader for over 15 years with the Boy Scout Troop 168 in Dover, New Hampshire. She had a fun, generous, caring, kind and honest personality. She adored her family and pets. Frances loved to bake sugar cookies every year for family, friends and co-workers and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Though not an avid gambler, Frances really enjoyed scratch tickets and always seemed to be so lucky when she played.
She always believed in her family to do and be anything they wanted, and supported their decisions even if she didn't like them, just not without first giving her opinion.
She is survived by her children Leon and Deborah of North English; 3 grandchildren Alexia (Jack) Van Dyke of South English, Chandria (Sam) Clayton of North English and Jasmin (Keith) Fry of Marengo and 5 great grandchildren Zoey, Zaelynn and Zakyra Clayton of North English and Stanley and Toby Fry of Marengo.
She was preceded by her parents, husband and a sister Helen King.
