Famie Schuldt, 94 of Chariton, passed away March 12, 2017. Services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Chariton. Family received friends one hour prior to the service, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the church. Per her wishes, Famie was cremated. A private burial service will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Famie’s honor to Circle of Life Hospice/Legacy Lodge, Homestead Assisted Living, or the First Lutheran Church in Chariton.
Famie was born May 4, 1922 near Marengo, Iowa to Harry and Grace Fiser. She attended Sumner School in Iowa County. She married Ralph Schuldt on Nov. 27, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo, Iowa. Famie was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Chariton and active in WELCA, Breakfast Gals, and the Quilting Group.
Famie was a hard worker and held numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked for Amana Refrigeration, as a manager in the laundry department at St. Luke’s Hospital, and was employed with Turner Electrics in Cedar Rapids. After retirement, in addition to being an immaculate homemaker, she worked the breakfast shift as a cook for Hy-Vee and did housekeeping for several families.
Famie enjoyed gardening, nature, baking, and was known for her delicious pies. She loved spending time with her family and hearing stories of the many grandchildren. Prior to her fall and health issues, she was known for “walking laps” at the assisted living facility. She is cherished by her family and loved by many. We will hold her in our hearts forever.
Famie is survived by her children: Karen (Del) Kray of Chariton, Linda (Mike) Carmen of Colleyville, Texas, and Lee (Karen) Schuldt of Bear, Del; grandchildren: Jim Kray, Angela Dachenbach, Lisa Shoeman, Kristin Wells, Keri Revett, Aaron Allison, Kyle Schuldt; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Schuldt; son, Herbert Schuldt; grandson, Kevin Schuldt; great granddaughter, Ashlyn Allison; three sisters: Ella Mae Moore, Martha Septer, and Madeline Lillie; and one brother, William Fiser.
Famie’s family is grateful and blessed for the comfort and care that she received at Homestead Assisted Living and the loving attention that she received at Circle of Life Hospice/Legacy Lodge during her final days, where she was at peace as she waited for the Lord to call her home.
