Judith "Judy" Wade Esslinger, 78, of Huntsville, passed away at home on Sunday, following a 14 month illness.

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday March 16 at First United Methodist Church Sanctuary. The funeral service followed at the church with Dr. William Crosby and the Rev. Coy Hallmark officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Esslinger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Lester Memorial United Methodist Church in Oneonta, AL, or Hospice Family Care, Huntsville.

Judith “Judy” Wade Esslinger was a graduate from English Valley High School in North English, IA. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Huntsville where she happily served others with Stephen Ministries.

She loved dancing, telling stores, laughing, and she was an avid reader.

Survivors include her children, Susan Esslinger Coddington, David Esslinger, and Sheila Esslinger Drenning; grandchildren, Raine Coddington, Kaitlyn Esslinger, Holt Esslinger, Liam Coddington, and Lynn Coddington Gilbert; and great-grandchildren, Regan Gilbert and Bryce Gilbert.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Esslinger, parents, Mike and Lena Wade, sister, Phyllis Wade Peters, and brother, David Wade.

The family wishes to thank Hospice Family Care and Brookdale Jones Farm for their tender care during her final days.
