Vern LeRoy Dolmage was born on February 27, 1931 and returned to his Heavenly Home on February 16, 2019.

A private Family Celebration of Life will be held in a family home. Please do not send Flowers. His Urn will be interred at a later time in the Victor Iowa Memorial Cemetery.

Vern was born and raised on a family farm in the small town of Victor, Iowa. While growing up Vern enjoyed a close association many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins from both the Dolmage line and his Maternal Lyman side of the family.

Vern attended Coe Collage where he was Fraternity Brother’s with Marv Levy which always gave him “Bragging Rights” during Football season. In 1953 Vern joined the Navy at the time of the Korean War. It was while in the Navy he met his wife Marilyn. After a short courtship they married on Dec 2, 1955 at St Matthew’s Episcopal Church in National City CA.

After Vern left the regular service in 1956 he continued to serve in the Reserves until 1961. Vern and Marilyn moved to Victor IA to start a life as Farmers in 1956 but shortly after the birth of their first child, Katherine (Kathy), in 1957 they decided to return to California where Vernbegan to work in his lifelong profession as a Carpenter.

In 1958 they welcomed a second daughter, Flora. The following year they built the home that Marilyn continues to live in. Their third child,,Frank, was born in Dec of 1959.

Vern retired in from Construction work 1987 and enjoyed playing golf with friends for many years until his health declined. He spent the last year of his life at the Lo-Har Senior Living Facility in El Cajon, CA where he made friends with the staff and fellow residents. The staff was very kind and patient which made it an enjoyable experience for him.

He is survived by his wife (Marilyn Hart Dolmage), two daughters (Katherine Dolmage and Flora Dolmage), two grandchildren (Matthew Dolmage and Amber Dolmage McGinn), five Great-grandchildren (Jacob Dembowski Gabriel Dembowski, Paige Dolmage, Lucy Dolmage and Lucas McGinn), three brothers (David Dolmage, Dennis Dolmage and Dean Dolmage), and four sisters (Lillian Dolmage Tiller, Sheila Dolmage Varner, Laura Dolamge Reed and Daisianna Dolmage Dodds).

He was preceded in death by his parents (Wayne Dolmage and Hazel Lyman Dolmage), three sisters (Colleen Dolmage, Valerie Dolmage Cope and Thelma Dolmage Richardson), a son and daughter-in-law (Frank Dolmage and Cindy Williams Dolmage).
