Catherine H. Nowotny,88, of Lakeview Village, Amana, formerly of Victor, died of heart failure Sunday, March 27, 2005, in her home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St; Bridget Catholic Church, Victor. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Victor. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith funeral Home, Victor, where a Scripture service begins at 7:30 p.m. Survivors include a brother,Ted Reitzler of North English.Also surviving are two sons-in-law, Thomas Shepherd and w1fe Judy of Cedar Rapids and Rick Cole of Victor; five grandchildren;and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Nowotny Sr.; and two daughters, Judith Shepherd and JoAnn Cole.
She was born Sept. 6, 1916, on a farm south ,of Brooklyn, and graduated from St. John's High School in Victor. On June 28, 1937, she married Donald P. Nowotny at St. Patrick's Catholic Church ill Brooklyn. The couple farmed northeast of Victor until 1975 when they moved to Victor to make their home. She was the owner of M&N Grain and Feed business in Victor and a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. For the last three years she lived at Lakeview Village in Amana.
