North English- Rachel May Evans was born May 21, 1919 near South English, Iowa, the daughter of William Day and Mary Catherine (Moore) Evans. She attended South English Schools. Rachel worked at Amana Refrigeration and with home health care. She lived her entire life in the South English community until moving to the English Valley Care Center in December 2011. She was a member of the Amana Union and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, making angel food cakes, the outdoors and spending time with her family. Rachel died on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the English Valley Care Center in North English, at the age of 98 years.

She is survived by her son Dean and wife Zona Evans of South English; three grandchildren: Cheryl (Forrest) Trimble of Cedar Rapids, Carmen Evans of North English and Lyle (Dee) Evans of South English; three great grandchildren Aaron (Nikki) Osweiler of South English, Skylar (Tara Grimm) Shifflet of North English and Emily (Stephen) Clarahan of South English; five great great grandchildren Bailey & Brayden Shifflet, Landon Clarahan and Tyson & Connor Osweiler. She was preceded by her parents; a sister Louise Reinwand; three brothers Warren, Joe and an infant Samuel Evans; a grandson Larry Dean Evans; and a great grandson Heath Allen Evans.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery.
