Arnold George John Glandorf was born November 5, 1905 on the family farm in Iowa Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Herman and Gesina Baack Glandorf. Arnold was baptized December 3, 1909 and confirmed March 18 1920. He attended rural school. Arnold was united in marriage to Anna Doehrmann on August 15, 1928 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. He was a life long farmer and master gardener in later years. Arnold was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the Immanuel School Board. He enjoyed fishing, playing dart ball, cards and many other sports. Arnold became a resident at Colonial Manor in October of 2004. Arnold died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Colonial Manor in Amana after a short illness at the age of 99 years, 4 months and 1 day. He is survived by ten children: Ruth Norton of Cedar Rapids, Helen (Tom) Kessler of Williamsburg, Robert (Marian) Glandorf of Homestead, Orlen (Loretta) Glandorf of Williamsburg, Elaine (Robert) Iburg of Williamsburg, Lola (Paul) Schmidt of Overland Park, Kansas, Richard (Linda) Glandorf of Marengo, Willard (Patricia) Glandorf of Williamsburg, Earl (Carol) Glandorf of Homestead and Marie (Larry) Blazicek of Shellsburg; 30 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and a sister-in-law: Leona Doehrmann of Williamsburg. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna October 26, 1983, a brother Ernest Glandorf; nine sisters: Frieda Brandt, Alina Glandorf, Norma Glandorf, Clara Johnson, Loretta Doehrmann, Irma Krueger, infant Alma Glandorf, Elsie Green and Lillie Doehrmann; great grandson: Christopher Glandorf and a grandson: Mark Glandorf; a daughter-in-law: Linda Glandorf and two son-in-laws: Harold Iburg and Marvin Norton. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Jon Nack and Pastor Martin Eden will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Immanuel Bell Tower Fund or the Lutheran Hour
