M. Ardys Weber, 88, of Keota, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital.

Ardys was born Feb. 16, 1930, near North English to Roy and Gail (Butler) Claypool and graduated from North English High School in 1949. She worked as an aide at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Ottumwa and the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City. On July 11, 1953, she married Paul Weber at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinross. The couple lived and farmed in the Kinross area until moving to Keota in 1985. Ardys was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed collecting cardinal figurines, crossword puzzles, playing dominoes and cards, cooking, embroidery, decorating for the holidays and talking on the phone.

Survivors include nine children, Nancy Feaker of North English, Cindy Weber of Keota, Bill (Jane) Weber of Kinross, Peggy Weber of Keota, Andy (Gail) Weber of Sigourney, Carol (Brian) Engnell of Andover, Ill., Mary (David) Fagen of Keota, Joe Weber of Keota and Laura (Bryan) Hahn of Sigourney; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Sawyer of Sigourney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 2013; son, David; a daughter in infancy; and two sisters, Marian Claypool and Elna DeJordy.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Little Creek Cemetery in rural Kinross. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Parish or Keokuk County Hospice. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Ardys and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
