Lois Mae Lukes, age 66, of Homestead, passed away October 23, 2018, at her home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Homestead Cemetery, with Elders Betsy Momany and Jon Childers officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2018, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Lois is survived by her husband Dennis of 48 years; her three sons Steven (Sherry) Lukes, Middle Amana, James Lukes, West Amana and Justin (Rachel) Lukes, Hiawatha; eight grandchildren Olivia Grimm (Tony), Gavin, Rachel, Noland, Corinna, Dalton, Cameron and Weston; a brother Darrel (Susan) Grouette of Homestead, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Marilyn Grouette and Margaret Provin and a daughter-in-law Heather (Schwab) Lukes.

Lois Mae Grouette, was born November 8, 1951, in Mason City, the daughter of Gean and Velma “Lorraine” (Harriot) Grouette. She graduated from Mason City High School and married Dennis D. Lukes on August 1, 1970, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Mason City.

Lois worked for Amana Refrigeration for 31 years until retiring. Lois enjoyed playing games on facebook. She loved to quilt, make rag rugs, sew and do crafts, collecting Precious Moments, pitchers and bowls, bowling and playing softball. She was the first female cub master of pack 223 and received the cub master of the year award in 1989. Lois was always volunteering in the community and lending a helping hand.

She was always a selfless person and giving many friends rides to doctor visits. She was famous for her party potatoes that she brought every year to the Amana 4th of July picnic and was also known as the mint lady and cake baker. Her grandchildren loved her pumpkin bars and looked forward to them every holiday.

Lois loved her husband, children, grandchildren and fur child Scooter with all her heart and cherished family heirlooms. She was really good at making project lists for Denny, to keep him busy. She was loved and will be missed.
