Russell Eugene Hultman, 93 of rural Chelsea, IA passed away October 16, 2018 at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo, IA.

Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine with Pastors Thomas Petersen and Charles Johnson officiating.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Friday at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.

Russell was born December 11, 1924 in Des Moines, IA to Algot and Nellie (Erickson) Hultman. He attended school in Des Moines, following school he joined the United States Army and served in WWII. In 1946 he returned to the Des Moines area where he worked as a carpenter. September 21, 1946 Russell married June McLennan, together the couple moved to the Walnut Creek area in Poweshiek county where they began to farm in 1952. Russell was able to retire from farming in 1981 when his son Jack took over their operation.

Russell enjoyed traveling, fishing up north, going to the old threshers reunion, playing cards with friends. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, B.P. and the Belle Plaine American Legion Post #39

He was survived by his two sons, William (Lexy Lou) Hultman, of Watkins, Jack Hultman, of rural Chelsea; grandchildren, Lessile Hultman, Matt, Eric, Allison Smith, Cassie, Mark Smith, David Hultman; brothers, Charles (Alice) Hultman, of FL, Richard Hultman, of Ankeny, IA and many more loving family and friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife June (1992); daughter, Barbara Smith (1995); sister Dorothy; brother Donald.
