Floyd W. Meyer Jr., 64, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, with Pastor Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella; a son, Scott and wife Lisa of Williamsburg; a daughter, Susannah Rayas and husband Alex of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren, Joel Dronebarger, Skyler Meyer, Gramm Meyer, Sarah Rayas, Cashlee Rayas and Stetson Rayas; four brothers, Vernon of Conroy, Edward of Marengo, Richard of Parnell and Leonard of Conroy; and two sisters, Della Stevens of Deep River and Ruth Melsa of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Melvin and John in infancy; and a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Gary Wetjen.
Floyd William Meyer was born March 8, 1940, in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Floyd G. and Alice Mumm Meyer. He received his education in the Iowa County schools and married Marcella Meeks on Sept. 30, 1960, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo. He was employed by George Myers at the Phillips 66 station in South Amana for several years. From 1965 until 1990 he owned and operated Floyd's DX in South Amana, which later was renamed Floyd's Repair.
Floyd was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo, and especially enjoyed dartball. His passion was classic cars and street rod shows, and he enjoyed participating in local parades.
