LEROY BRINGMANN SR.

LeRoy Bringmann Sr., 74, of Victor, passed away at 7:05 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo after a long struggle with cancer.

A funeral Mass has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Victor.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

A Scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

LeRoy was born on Feb. 8, 1944, in Guernsey, the son of Willie and Velma Hartgrave Bringmann. He was raised in the Victor area and was a 1962 graduate of HLV High School.

LeRoy and his first wife, Linda Williamson, had two children, Butch and LeAnn. They resided in Ladora.

He married his second wife, Janice McDonald, on May 26, 1990. They resided in Victor.

LeRoy had worked many jobs, including working for 20 years with Martin Marietta. His main career was an owner/operator trucker and was leased to Mid Seven Transportation in Des Moines. After his retirement, he drove a truck for J&J Cattle in Williamsburg until his health began to fail. He was a hard worker and loved trucking.

He was a member of the Road Runners Motorcycle Club, Ladora Chapter and the Ladora Saddle Club.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Velma; and his brother, Richard.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Janice of Victor; his son, Butch (Renee) Bringmann of Ladora and his daughter, LeAnn Meeks (Chris Smith) of Williamsburg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Dave (Laura) McDonald of Leawood, Kan., Dan (Susan) McDonald of Woodstock, Ga., and Diane (Brett) Kimm of Mount Vernon; six stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.

LeRoy always had an easy laugh and was loved by many. He was a hard worker and a tough man who fought cancer bravely. He will be missed by many. We will meet again in our heavenly home. Until then, rest in peace, LeRoy.
