OBITUARY, Pioneer Republican, Marengo, Iowa, January 13, 2005:

"LISETTE 'BOBBI' RAICHE, 95

Funeral Services for Lisette R. "Bobbi" Raiche, 95, formerly of Davenport, East Moline, Ill., and High Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline. She died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport.

Memorials may be made to Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.

Lisette Rosa Raiche was born July 1, 1909, in High Amana, the daughter of Emanuel and Mina Puegner Solbrig. She married Walter Raiche in 1932 in Davenport. He died in 1975.

She was a Christian Scientist and was a member of the Christian Science Church, Davenport. It was her faith in the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy and the words of Jesus that saw her through so many of God's trials, broken hearts and healings. Above all, she believed that "God was love." Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting and sewing, in addition to being an avid reader of novels and newspapers. She was a huge fan of the Lakers and had an autographed picture of Pat Riley on her desk. She worked at Peterson-Von Mauer from 1964 to 1970 and belonged to Lend-A-Hand for many years.

She dedicated herself tirelessly to her family and friends. Though she never learned to drive a car, she always found a way to come to the side of those who were ill and cared for the dying in their home or in the hospital. In addition, she would come at a moment's notice to stay and help with a newborn baby in the house, as well as taking care of the other little children as needed by her family, all in the name of love. It was this very special woman who truly made birthdays and holidays that touched the hearts of those she loved and adored.

Her 95 years included an infinite amount of stories beginning with her childhood in the Amana Colonies and, as a little girl, the sight of Indians on their horses. Her stories ranged from World War I and World War II, black and white "talkies" with her favorite stars, Mary Pickford and Rudolph Valentino, and her opinions of political leaders. She had a talent for crossword puzzles, card games and mathematics. But of all her attributes, the greatest gift bestowed upon her from above was her endless understanding of children and the need for unconditional love from the time they are born. Her patience and undying love to teach children about God's love and nature will live in the hearts of those children fortunate to be held and rocked in her arms.

"One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had-, nor what my clothes were like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child. We will always loved and remember you, Oma"

Raiche is survived by one son and his wife, Richard and Mary Raiche, East Moline; one granddaughter, Dyan Avanti, Rock Island, Ill.; one great-granddaughter and her husband, Jessica and Marshall Douglas II, Moline, Ill.; one great-great-granddaughter, Savanna Douglas; three nieces, Vava Heller, Atellia Kinzenbaw, and Anita Parnin; Nephew and Mason, Darold "Bud" Solbrig.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Minnie Linton, belonging to the Eastern Star, and brothers who were Masons, William and Adolph Solbrig."
