Celebration of life service for Betty A. Schindler, 86, Williamsburg, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Colonial Manor of Amana.

Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lutheran Interparish School or Essence of Life Hospice.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.

Betty Ann Schindler was born March 4, 1932, near Williamsburg, the daughter of Julius and Anna (Wetjen) Buser. She graduated from Hilton Consolidated School in Conroy and Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids.

She married Paul Willard Schindler on Oct. 2, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Betty was a beautician for over 50 years. She enjoyed collecting elephants, glass slippers, Betty Boop memorabilia, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was very active in the Republican Party and a member of the Iowa Board of Cosmetology. She was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Womens Guild.

Betty is survived by three children: Rick (Kathy) Schindler, Phoenix, Ariz.; Tamara Schmugge, Charlotte, N.C., and Tonya Strasser, Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Danielle (Corey), Derek, Kaitlin, Kylie, Ava and Alana; a sister-in-law, Lucille Buser, Williamsburg, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, in 2000; two brothers, John Buser and Robert Buser, and a sister, Geraldine Lackender.
