Phyllis Hanson, 90, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018. A private graveside service will be held May 25 at Memory Gardens, Iowa City, where she will be laid to rest next to her son.

Phyllis was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Waverly, the daughter of Elmer and Edna [Jones] Burton. She graduated from City High in Iowa City and lived in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area most of her life.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Robert; children, Edward (Susan) Etheredge, Larry Etheredge, Thomas (Ardette) Etheredge, Richard (Jackie) Etheredge, Robert P. (Christine) Hanson and Barbara (David) Wichmann; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and her son, Gerald Etheredge.
