Bonnie A. Stallman, 67, of Blairstown, died of a brain tumor early Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Colonial Manor Care Center, Amana. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Grace Lutheran Church, by Pastor
David Rempfer. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Overton Family Funeral Home, Blairstown.
Bonnie Ann Stallman was born Dec. 21, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Paul E. and Donna B. (Kading) Ohlen. She received her education in Blairstown, graduating from Blairstown High School. Bonnie then worked for a time at an insurance agency in Cedar Rapids before her marriage. On Oct. 4, 1958, she married Louis A. Stallman at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. They made their home around the Blairstown area all their married life. Bonnie worked many years as a cook at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. Louis passed away June 4, 2000, and Bonnie continued to live in Blairstown.
During the past year, Bonnie had fought a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Since Sept. 28, 2004, she had resided at Colonial Manor Care Center in Amana.
Bonnie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. In her free moments, she enjoyed watching NASCAR, working with her flowers and reading. Bonnie loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially their weekend get-togethers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Louis.
Bonnie is survived by four daughters, Michelle (Jim) Phelps of Marengo, Karla (Jim) Vavroch of Belle Plaine, Paula (Jeff) Macku of Swisher and Lisa (Jeff) Kruse of Ladora; four grandchildren, Dan, Jessica, Felicia and Travis; a brother, Bill (Marsha) Ohlen of Blairstown; and a sister, Bette Kae (Bob) Lee of Norway.
