WILLIAMSBURG- Orlin Hochstetler, age 86, of rural Williamsburg, died Friday, September 15, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Orlin was born January 3, 1931, in Kalona, to Earl and Mary (Kraybill) Hochstetler. He graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School and worked in Iowa for one year until attending Hesston College for one year. The Korean War came along and Orlin served his I.W. term in Colorado State Mental Hospital and in Denver General Hospital from 1952-1954.

On April 17, 1954, Orlin married Lores Brenneman at East Union Mennonite Church. After I.W. they moved back to Iowa to farm and milk cows.

The farm was sold and he started working at the new Procter & Gamble as a process technician for 35 ½ years, retiring in 1991. They lived in Coralville for seven years.

In 1968 they bought the farm where Orlin and Lores live now. Since retirement they enjoyed the farm back in the Irish Hills. Orlin had a herd of Registered Angus cows. They also enjoy having all their children and grandchildren nearby and attend concerts, football games and other community activities.

Orlin and Lores both enjoyed traveling and have traveled extensively. Traveling to Colorado every year. They have been active in church activities at First Mennonite in Iowa City for many years. Orlin and Lores were involved with the Iowa MEDA Chapter. He served on the International MEDA Board for six years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Lores of Williamsburg; three children: Kim (Cheri) Hochstetler of Tiffin, Kathy Lippold of Parnell and Kirk (Fiancé Karen Gaffey) Hochstetler of Tiffin; ten grandchildren: Shelly (Tyler) Kopriva, Steve Hochstetler, Lydia (Russell) Chittick, Lilly Lippold, Miranda Hochstetler, Meridith Hochstetler, Ashton Kacena, Abby Kacena, Cameron (Haley) Kacena and Kiera Gaffey; five great grandchildren: Elsa, Lena and Thys Kopriva, Robert and Emily Chittick; two sisters: Arlene Miller and Mary (Keith) Brenneman; a brother Dale (Lucille) Hochstetler; and 2 sisters-in-law Marvel Hochstetler and Glenis Hochstetler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Donald and Roger Hochstetler, and a brother-in-law John Miller.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 22, 2017, at First Mennonite Church in Iowa City, with ministers Terry Zimmerly and Jim Grossnickle-Batterton officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2017, at First Mennonite Church in Iowa City.

A memorial fund has been established for Meda International and Crooked Creek Christian Camp. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona is caring for Orlin and his family.
