Services for Wilma Fay Wilson, 95, Belle Plaine, will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating.

Burial is at Marengo Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until service time at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. Wilson passed away Wednesday, April 11, at Unity Point-St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Wilma is survived by a son, Tom (Diane) Wilson, Marengo; a brother Jack (Betty) Vinall, Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren, Alison Foughty (Scott), Polk City, Johnette Hayes, Belle Plaine, and Ashley Meek (Jordan), Williamsburg; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Payton, Spencer, Davis, Erika, Avery and Jacob.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in December 1987, her parents, a daughter, Florence Hayes in 2013, and a son-in-law, John Hayes in 2010.

Wilma Vinall was born Nov. 29, 1922, in rural Kellogg, the daughter of Thomas Henry and Bernice (Cooper) Vinall. She graduated from Searsboro High School and received her nursing degree from Marshalltown Community College.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Wilson in Missouri in 1945. Wilma was one of the first employees when Marengo Memorial Hospital opened its doors. She proudly held her nursing license for 50 years. Following her retirement from the hospital, Wilma worked as an in-home-care nurse.

Besides her nursing profession, Wilma helped her husband with the farm duties, and was a loving wife and mother. She was a 4-H leader and also a member of Eastern Star. Wilma volunteered for many years within the community as well as at Camp Wapsie. She loved to travel, and do needlework.
