Mass of Christian burial for Dr. Marlen F. Junck, 75, was held Feb. 10 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 323 N Van Buren St. Stoughton, Wis. He died Feb. 1, 2018.

Dr. Marlen Frederick Junck was born Aug. 21, 1943, in Madison, Wis., the son of Margaret (Shebel) and Leonard Junck. A 1960 graduate of Edgewood High School, he attended Holy Cross Seminary, LaCrosse, Wis., and earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Wisconsin. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi scholastic honor societies. Serving in the Navy as a medical officer, he earned the Navy Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam.

Marlen married Arlene Jones on August 14, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, IA.

After completing his radiology residency and fellowship in nuclear medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Marlen worked as a radiologist for 41 years in Madison, WI, Holland, MI and Beloit, WI.

Throughout his life, Marlen was intellectually curious and developed many interests. He enjoyed operating a dairy farm in Oregon, WI and also had a love for nature and wildlife. He was a devout Catholic. Pope John Paul II named him a Knight Commander of St. Gregory the Great. He was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and served on the board of directors of The National Catholic Bioethics Center.

Marlen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Arlene, his five children, Anthony(Laurie) Junck of Pensacola, FL; Lisa(Jon) MacDonald of Carlsbad, CA; Susan(Blaine) Longsworth of Brighton, MI; David(Jennifer) Junck of St. Charles, IL; and Marianne(John Pokorney) Junck of Milwaukee, WI; his fifteen grandchildren, Luke, Levi, Sydney, Miller, Emily, Peter, Kainoa, August, Finley, Benjamin, Emma, Lucy, Chloe, Phoebe, and Oliver; and his brothers, Tom(Linda) Junck and Lyle Jenner.
