Roger Dale Anderson, 80, lost his battle with cancer on March 14, 2018, surrounded by his wife and daughters. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church in Coralville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. Inurnment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1937, to Morris and Ertle (DeWinter) Anderson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He had a long, distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, dedicating his brilliant mind to the University of Iowa in the physics/space program and Rockwell Collins.

Roger was an avid musician, playing with many different groups through the years. He had many interests, including woodworking, building musical instruments, classic cars and tractors, bird-watching and a general love of nature. He served the community, being on the Board of Adjustments and Gateway Park Committee.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carol DeHague Anderson, and three daughters, Kim (Dan) Ewing of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Jennifer (Travis) Williams of Nora Springs, Iowa, and Marissa (Bryan) Bral of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Breah Ewing, Drew Ewing, Jennica Etten and Zoey and Jaxson Williams; three sisters, Marilyn (John) Horvath of Elkhart, Ind., Twila Buffington of Mebane, N.C., and Becky (Tom) Johnson of Mystic, Iowa; two brothers, Ronald (Norma) Anderson and David (Jeannie) Anderson, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Roger was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a brother-in-law, Dan Buffington.

The family extends a special thank-you to Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their extensive care and support during his final days.
