Carlyle “Mac” Mahannah, 81, died Tuesday evening, July 14, 1998, in his home following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998, for family and friends at the Mahannah residence in Tipton.
He is survived by a son, Lyle E. and wife Judi of Golden, Mo.; a daughter, Connie Burnell and a husband Keith of Rowley; a brother, E.A. “Bud” Mahannah and wife Dorothy of St Petersburg, Fla.; and a niece, Dixie Sweet of Homosassa Springs, Fla. He also is survived by a special family whom he raised, Joe Tanner and Rhonda Shampu of Tipton, Sharon Hightower of Clarence, Earl Tanner of Iowa City and Helena Fuller of Missouri; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Mac was born March 5, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Arthur and Irene Mahannah. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the Cedar Rapids area for many years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 234. He served in the Army during World War ll.
Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
