North English—George L. Mahannah died at his home here Sunday Aug.26 after a lingering illness. Mr Mahannah has been a prominent business man in North English for many years, mainly in the restaurant business.
George, the son of J. L. and Jane Mahannah, was born July 28, 1883, in North English. He was married to Pauline Rogner, Jan. 31, 1906. To this union were born four children. Mrs. Mahannah died October 1, 1918. On September 15, 1928 Mr. Mahannah married Hilda Hendrickson.
Surviving are his wife, four children, Melvin of Chicago, Mildred of Conrad, Paul of Ottumwa and Lorna of Cedar Rapids, and one grandchild, Shirley Jean. He is also survived by two brothers, J.H. of Long Beach, Calif., and Walter of Chicago.
Funeral services were held Tuesday Aug. 28th at the Christian church conducted by the Rev. J. H. Krenmyre of Montequma assisted by the Rev. R. W. Hudson. Interment was in the North English cemetery.
