Celebration of life service for Wayne A. Williams, 73, Berryville, Ark., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Green Forest Cowboy Church, Green Forest, Ark. He died Oct. 11, 2017, in Berryville.

Brother Billy Williams will officiate at the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.

Memorial donations may be made either to the Green Forest Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 833, Green Forest, Arkansas 72638, or the Nature Conservancy at 38 W Trenton Blvd # 201, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.

Wayne Allan Williams was born 1944 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Carl Harold and Gladys Eileen (Jones) Williams. He was raised in Williamsburg and graduated from Iowa State University.

He proudly served his country as a captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was deployed to Fort Richardson, Ark. He served until 1971, when he began a career in investment banking. He met the love of his life, and they were married in 1977. They raised four children. In 1992, he retired from the Alaska Industrial Development Authority, and they moved to Rockhouse, Ark., where he established Whispering Wings Ranch. He raised beef cattle, and tended the ranch until 2014 when it was acquired by the Nature Conservancy.

He was a member of the Green Forest Cowboy Church. He could build or fix anything. He enjoyed wood working, and built beautiful furniture. He loved gardening and all God’s creatures.

Williams is survived by his wife, Nadara Nadine (Martin) Williams; his daughter, Debbie Bitney, and husband, John, of Big Lake, Alaska; son, Laron Williams, Quilcene, Wash.; son, Martin Williams, and companion, Lisa Snow, Lynnwood, Wash.; sister, Sylvia Ferguson, and husband, Jerry, Tipton; six grandchildren, Katelyn Williams, Joshua Richter, Triston Williams, Hannah Williams, TJ Williams and Baron Williams; one great-grandchild, Kylie Maki; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Susan Ribelin.
