Kathryn Elizabeth Belger Jones passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at her home at Highland Ridge in Williamsburg at the age of 99.

Katie was born in Holbrook, Iowa, on July 6, 1918, to James and Mary (Doyle) Belger. She attended country schools around Holbrook and Parnell and enjoyed playing baseball she usually was one of the first to be picked for a team. She graduated from Parnell High School and Brown Business College in Iowa City.

While working at the ASCS office in Williamsburg, she rented a room from Russell Stover's mother-in-law developing a lifelong love for his chocolate candy and met the love of her life, Harold Jones. After World War II, she and Harold married and raised four children. Katie enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's school and athletic events. She also enjoyed being a member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, her coffee groups, bowling, walking, traveling, golfing and playing in multiple bridge groups. She even placed second in a bridge tournament at the age of 90. Katie was proud of her Irish heritage and she always had a quick wit and a good comeback.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Diedre) of Apple Valley, Minn., Mike of Cedar Rapids and Ann of Waukee; daughter-in-law, Judy of Delray Beach,Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jim; and siblings, Clarence, Agnes Wilkinson, James, John, Elmer and Charles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, where there will be a vigil service beginning at 2 p.m. and a rosary at 4 p.m.

Memorials can be made to the Williamsburg Library and Highland Ridge activities in Katie's honor.

The family would like to thank the Highland Ridge staff and employees for their loving, tender care and support.
