Margaret Bohstedt, age 97, of Victor, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor with Pastor Michael Kolesar officiating. Interment will follow the service at Victor Memorial Cemetery. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall at St. James Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held prior to her service on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Memorials may be designated to St. James Lutheran Church or to Camp Courageous, and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347. Condolences may be shared with her family online at www.smithfh.com .

Margaret Rose Behrens was born the youngest daughter of eleven children to William and Mary (Rank) Behrens on January 22, 1920, on the family farm near Deep River, Iowa. She was raised near Deep River and was educated at a country school near her home before attending St. John's Lutheran School near Victor. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Victor in 1933, and she graduated from Deep River High School in 1938.

Margaret was united in marriage to Ted Bohstedt on November 25, 1941, in Kahoka, Missouri. They were blessed with a son, Richard Allen Bohstedt and a daughter, Kathryn Ann Bohstedt. They resided in the Victor area all of their married lives.

Margaret cherished her family, relatives and friends. She was a fun-loving caregiver for her young nieces and nephews, parents and family. Her enjoyments included bowling in women's and couples leagues, going out for morning coffee with friends, and going for car rides with her husband. She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Victor, an active member of the Victor Women's Club, and assisted with elections in Victor for many years.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Bohstedt of Marengo, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret died on Tuesday, August 26, 2017, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa. She was 97 years of age was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, George, Walter, Esther, Mabel, Marie, Ella, Minnie, Florence, Henry and Carl; son, Richard Bohstedt; and husband, Ted Bohstedt.
