Memorial service for Carol J. Miller, 80, Marengo, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A loving mother and grandmother, she died July 10, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established.

Carol Jean Brown was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Crawfordsville, the daughter of Dwight and Myrtle Orris Brown. She graduated from City High in Iowa City.

She married Marvin M. Miller on Oct. 2, 1960 in Iowa City. The couple eventually settled in Marengo where she was a longtime employee at Big G Food Store. She later was the manager of Cottontail Corner Day Care. She enjoyed her community and was the organizing force for the July 3rd parade for many years.

Miller, a long time Marengo and Rose Haven Nursing Home resident, is survived by her son, Jim Miller, Davenport; a daughter, Maurine Miller, Williamsburg, and three grandchildren, Harris Miller, Brady Miller and Noah Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Miller.
