Robert V. "Bob" Berry

Robert V. "Bob" Berry, 78, of 4670 Sioux Ave. SE, died Monday, June 7, 1999, in his home, of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City, by Pastor Timothy Zimmermann. Graveside services: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium, Iowa City, where the family will be present after 5 p.m.

A luncheon will immediately follow services Thursday morning at the church.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church's Audio/Video Fund.

Robert V. Berry was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Johnson county, the son of Robert F. and Bertha Nelson Berry. Bob attended Bale country school in Pleasant Valley Township, Johnson County, and graduated from University High School. He farmed most of his life in Johnson County, retiring in December 1984.

He married Glorine Lyman Bowman on Feb. 28, 1964, in Iowa City. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Golden K. Kiwanis Club and belonged to several conservation and nature organizations. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

HIs parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christy J. Stevens and husband Michael of Iowa City and Kathy J. Warden and husband Lane of Victor; and three grandchildren, Travis Stevens and Michael and Lori Warden.
