Memorial service for Barbara J. Schutterle, 78, Marengo, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 7, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died June 29, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.

The Rev. Shawn Barr will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Kloster Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Iowa County Food Bank or the Marengo American Legion.

Barbara Jean Schutterle was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Iowa City, the daughter of Robert and Verla Griggs Stockwell. She attended Marengo schools through the ninth grade, and in 1981, received her GED from Kirkwood Community College.

On Aug. 23, 1968, in Kahoka, Mo., she married Francis Schutterle. The couple made their home in Marengo. They were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, and Barbara was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid.

She enjoyed making crafts, painting, drawing and crocheting.

Schutterle is survived by four children Kim (Mark) Neuhaus, Cedar Rapids; Kelly Dye, Cedar Rapids; Jonette (Steve) Finley, Cedar Rapids, and Lisa (Jason) Lillie, Marengo; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Schutterle in December 2015, and her parents.
