Celebration of life memorial service for Robin L. Blaylock, 53, North English, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Powell Funeral Home, North English. He died on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at his home.

Pastor Luke Caster and Ric Gerard will officiate at the service.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home

Memorials are for North English Little League or National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Robin Lee Blaylock was born March 5, 1964, in Sigourney, the son of Gary and Patricia (Montross) Blaylock. He graduated from English Valleys High School in 1983 and attended Kirkwood Community College. He served in the United States Army during Desert Storm. While in the military, he played on the Fairbanks Angels baseball team.

On May 20, 1995, he married Shelly Rae Hagen at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. He was a forklift operator at Kinze Manufacturing, farmed and most recently drove a produce truck. He was a member of the North English United Methodist Church and a past member of the Farmer’s Lodge #168.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, canning, coaching baseball and spending time with Casey.

Blaylock is survived by his wife, Shelly; one son, Casey; his father Gary (Sandy) Blaylock; his mother, Patricia “Trish” (John) Gaherty, all North English; a sister, Jody Moler, Overland Park, Kan; a brother, David Jo (Jennifer) Blaylock, North English; two step-brothers, Greg (Brenda) Parmenter, LaBelle, Fla., and Kevin (Shelli) Parmenter, Overland Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his grandparents and an uncle.
