Darline Angeline Pence Burlingham, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Karen Pence.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Central Church of Christ, 1500 First Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, with Minister Norman Bales officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

Darline was born at home in Otter Creek Township, Linn County, on April 17, 1925, to Lemual and Addie (Edaburn) Tharp. She was married to Myron R. Pence until his passing in January 1972. Later, she married Charles E. Burlingham. Darline retired from Mercy Medical Center in 1987.

Darline enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Paris, Iowa, along with gardening, canning and growing flowers. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Darline is survived by her children, Mike (Patty) Pence of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Danny) Albert of Ladora, Rocky (Karen) Pence of Cedar Rapids and Becky (Charlie) Miller of Cedar Rapids; sister, Ruth (Wayne) Duede of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; stepson, Dennis (Moe) Burlingham; siblings, Flora Barnard, Chermak, Genevieve Bjornsen, Marshal, Marvin, Virgil, Wilmer and Charles Tharp; grandchild, Tim Burlingham; and great-grandchildren, Seth Carnicle and Hailey Pence.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy of Cedar Rapids for all its support and care.
