Celebration of life service for Larry Watts, 68, Williamsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, at First Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg. He died Saturday, March 11, 2017, with his family by his side.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Hospice Compassus of Cedar Rapids, The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center or Children’s Miracle Network.

Larry Watts was born Sept. 14, 1948, in Williamsburg, the son of Stan and Elizabeth “Betty” (Nicholas) Watts. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1966 and Iowa State University in 1971. During the Vietnam War era he served in the Army Reserves for six years.

He married Beverly Jean Miller Nov. 29, 1969, at the United Church of Christ in Wheatland.
After college, he returned to Williamsburg to work with his dad at the lumber store from 1971-1977. In 1977, he and is wife purchased the Coast to Coast Store, now known as ACE Hardware. Together they have owned and operated ACE for 40 years.

He was very active in the community, serving on the Williamsburg Fire Department, city council, was a former president of Williamsburg Chamber, City Development Corporation and Elderly Housing. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. He was also a member of A.M.A and W.W.H.A. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, horseback riding, golfing, fishing, camping, hunting, traveling, snow skiing and boating.

Watts is survived by his wife, Bev; one son, Andy (Sabrina) Watts, Waseca, Minn.; one daughter, Rose (John) Driscoll, Williamsburg; two grandchildren, Jack and Katie Driscoll; two sisters: Barb Zimmerman, Paxton, Ill., and Kay Frahm, Grayslake, Ill.; his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Helen Miller, Dixon; sister-in-law, Betty (Jim) Engel, Springfield, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Kevin (Jill) Miller, Dixon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandy McElhenie.
