South English- Carolyn Phyllis Moyer was born July 8, 1935 in Oakland, CA the daughter of Filbert Chester and Gladys Winifred (Enos) Braia. She graduated from Oakland Tech High School.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Robert James Moyer on October 2, 1957 in Reno, NV. The couple lived in California, New York and made their home in South English.

Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church first in South English then later in Sigourney. She was also a member of the 20th Century Club for Women. She was the City of South English water meter reader for a number of years. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, shopping, baking cookies, baby sitting and caring for her family and her husband.

Carolyn passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at her home at the age of 81 years.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Robert of South English; a son: Robert Randal (Valerie) Moyer of Iowa City; two daughters: Suzanne Louise (Stephen) Hedges of Oxford and Cynthia Ellen (Irvin) Hovell of Galesville, WI and three grandsons: Michael Hedges, Travis Hedges and Erik Moyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Russell, Wesley and Keith Braia and a sister: Patricia Burleigh.

Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 pm on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:0 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at South English Cemetery.

Memorials are for the Mahaska County Hospice.
