Lois Weiss, age 78, of Victor, died on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Victor, Iowa. Pallbearers will be Steve and Jerry Sanders, Dustin and Ayden Gensley, Mark Roberts, and Ben Martin. Honorary bearers are Chase Coufal, Mike Rinderknecht, and Jim Weiss. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Victor.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and her family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may be designated to the St. John's Lutheran Church and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347.

Lois Marie Kiesewetter was born on October 15, 1938, in Ryan, Iowa to Ernest and Violet (Martinson) Kiesewetter. She was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in 1957. Following her education, she began working at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Cedar Rapids as an administrative assistant.

She was united in marriage to Maynard William Weiss on March 24, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple was blessed with three children: Beverly, Craig, and Pamela. Together they farmed in the Guernsey area and later in life, Lois worked as a waitress at the Victorian Inn, Star Inn, and Landmark restaurants, respectively.

Lois' faith and her family were her life. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Victor, where she was a member of the St. John's Ladies Aide. Her enjoyments were reading and traveling to Arizona and Texas to visit family. She will be remembered for her loving and caring way.

Lois is survived by her husband of 54 years, Maynard Weiss of Victor; daughter, Bev (Mark) Roberts of Chandler, Arizona; son, Craig Weiss of Williamsburg, Iowa; four grandchildren, Dustin Gensley, Emily Szajda, Sydney Martin, and Kassidy Martin; two great grandchildren, Ayden Gensley and Chase Coufal; son-in-law, Ben Martin of San Antonio, Texas; and her special friends, Angie (Greg) Thompson of Malcom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Martin in 2014; and siblings, Don Kiesewetter and Floyd McDaniel.
