Funeral service for Lucille D. Maas, 88, Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.

The Rev. Thomas Ogilvie officiated at the service.

Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Lucille Dorothea Maas was born Sept. 12, 1927, in rural Iowa County, the daughter of Laurel and Amanda Koester Weiss.

She graduated from St. Paul Lutheran Elementary and Williamsburg High School. She continued her education, receiving a diploma from beauty school in Cedar Rapids.

She married Richard H. Maas Sept. 30, 1950, at the Trinity Lutheran Church rectory, Cedar Rapids.

She operated her beauty shop out of her home until retiring at age 81. She thoroughly enjoyed her profession and looked forward to seeing her clients at their appointments. She also liked tending her many flowers and plants.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.

Maas is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1989; her son, Douglas, in 2015; a sister, Lorene Bierschenk, and two brothers, Orville and Laurel Weiss Jr.
