Memorial service for Carol M. “Kelly” Gould, 88, Belle Plaine, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Jim Davis officiated at the service.

Inurnment was in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo, with military honors.

Memorials may be contributed to the Marengo American Legion Post 76 or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Carol Mervin Gould was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Honey Creek Township, near Koszta, the son of Benjamin and Ladye Sloan Gould. He attended the Honey Creek School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Joyce Elaine Miner Dec 15, 1952. He farmed in the Vinton area for many years and did other farm work before that. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoors enthusiast as well as an avid collector and attended many farm and estate auctions. He was a member of the American Legion Post #76.

Gould is survived by his wife, Joyce “Elaine” Gould, Cedar Rapids; a son, Benjamin (Cindy), Appleton Wis. ; two daughters, Becky (Mike) Hite, Gresham, Ore., and Christine Carol Gould, Crooks, S.D.; six grandchildren, Lindsay Gould, Cleveland, Ohio; Stephanie (Jon) Weiss, Mbeya, Tanzania; Ashley (Shannon) Scott, Columbus, Ohio; Jeremiah (Katie) Gould, San Diego, Calif.; Jessica Hite, Huber Heights, Ohio, and Kelly Hite, Portland, Ore.; 11 great-grandchildren, Savannah, David, Sophia and Isiah Weiss, Carson Scott, William and Wyatt Gould, Calvin and Jackson Hite, Ada Dawson and Kennedy Murray. He was also the substitute father for Norma Gould’s children, Amy (Tony) Tomash and Lori Gould.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.
