Daniel D. Driscoll, 70, lowa City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospice, Iowa City. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life was held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at The Kirkwood Room, Iowa City.

Daniel D. Driscoll was born on March 19, 1946, the son of Vincent and Hilda (Schmidt) Driscoll. He grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from Williamsburg High School. He attended the University of Iowa and received his Bachelor of Arts from Loras College, Dubuque.

During a career spanning more than 50 years, Dan served in the professional photography field with galleries in Williamsburg and Iowa City. He received the designation of Master of Photography from Winona School of Professional Photography and was a member of the Professional Photographers of America. His other interests included horticulture, where he grafted and raised apple trees, fishing and golf.

He married Janet Helmer on July 4, 1991, in Iowa City. He is also survived by his children Duree (Scott) Thatcher, Eau Claire, Wis.; Darren (Carrie) Driscoll, Fort Dodge; Amy (Hassan) Khanfri, Long Island, N.Y.; Hannah (Rob) Young, Wellman; Emily (Tim) Ruby, River Forest, Ill., and Sarah Helmer, Fox River Grove, Ill.; his sister, Diana Yoss, Ankeny, and brother David (Jolene) Driscoll, Williamsburg. Dan was loved by his 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
