Obituary for Norma McCoy

Williamsburg-Norma Anna Emma McCoy the daughter of Louis and Anna (Von Weihe) Huedepohl was born February 22, 1919 near Homestead, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Homestead. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School.

Norma was united in marriage to John James McCoy on May 14, 1954 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Norma worked as a cook at the Iowa County Home for 9 years, then moved to Gurthrie Center and became a Co-Administrator at the Matron of Care Facilities for 17 years retiring in 1980. After retiring they moved to Albia and later returned to Williamsburg in 1992. Norma enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.

Norma passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Highland Ridge Care Center at the age of 97 years, being the last of 12 siblings.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews of which she loved each and everyone.

She is preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers: Elmer, Walter, Alfred and Clarence Huedepohl and 7 sisters: Dora Lorenz, Frieda Jones, Melva Wade, Linda Lorenz, Agnes Soedt, Flora Teggatz and Leona Wille.

Celebration of Life Service will 10:30 am Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Pastor Tom Ogilvie will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for St. Paul Lutheran Church.
