Iowa City-Christine “Christy” Kay Curtis of Iowa City and formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Windmill Manor in Coralville at the age of 51 years.

Christy was born the daughter of Terry and Myrna (Solheim) Curtis on April 23, 1965 in Marengo, Iowa. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1983 and Capri Cosmetology in 1984. She has worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Yearian Care Center, Mercy Hospital in Iowa City until moving to San Francisco, California where she work at an Orthopaedics Clinic. Christy returned to Iowa City where she worked at The Mill, Micky’s Irish Pub, Dan Folkman’s Laundromat, Hy-Vee Market Grill, St. Louis Bread and Panera. Christy enjoyed golfing, swimming, dancing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, the Hawkeyes and especially the Williamsburg Raiders Wrestling.

Christy is survived by her parents: Terry & Myrna Curtis of Williamsburg; siblings: Debbie & Pat DeGroot of Green Bay, WI, Lewie & Julie Curtis of Underwood, IA and Patrick Curtis & Brenda Wegner of Des Moines; nephews: Bryan and Taylor Curtis, Hunter and Logan De Groot; a niece: Olivia Curtis; aunts and uncles: Barb & Will Bates, Rita & Bob Harper, Bob & Jeanie Curtis, Bob & Janet Solheim, Eric & Nita Solheim and five special cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

A special thanks to the many special health care professionals in the Iowa City area who so lovingly assisted in her care. Christy was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. She was especially known for her kind and loving ways.
