Funeral service for Colleen J. Vesely, 91, Williamsburg, was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg. She died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

The Rev. Daniel Jessop officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Oxford Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Colleen Jean Vesely was born May 20, 1925, in Oxford, the daughter of Robert and Jennie Wagner Gorvin. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1942 and received a business degree from the Iowa City Commercial College.

She married Edward Vesely Jr. on Nov. 9, 1945, in Oxford. She worked as a bank teller at the Oxford State Bank and later at Farmers Trust and Savings Bank, Williamsburg. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg; Federated Church of Oxford, and the Windham Community Church. She enjoyed playing piano at the Windham Community Church and Highland Ridge Retirement Home.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to Highland Ridge, English Valley Care Center and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the excellent care given to Colleen during her stay with them.

Vesely is survived by two sons, Tom (Sandy), Council Bluffs, and John (Gerri), Dubuque; two daughters, Ellen Folkmann, Williamsburg, and Mary Sue (Larry) Hopp, Conroy; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Dietz, Dawn Folkmann (Burt Selby), Deanne (Jeff) Sinn, Kristina (Chris) Belshe, Kara (Don) Hettinger, Amanda Vesely, Ben (Celena) Vesely, Craig (Kim) Vesely, Beau Vesely, Rachel Hopp and Erin (Jeff) Liggett; 11 great-grandchildren, Grace Hettinger, Nile Sinn, Anna Kocour, Alex Kocour, Tyler Sicotte, Samuel Vesely, Elijah Vesely, Sarah Vesely, Michael Vesely, Eleanor Vesely and Dalton Liggett; two sisters, Vivian Mann, Clive, and Eunice O’Neil, West Branch; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Campbell, Tiffin, and a brother-in-law, Ray Vesely, Bellingham, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed “Bud” Vesely Jr., in 2004; her parents; one daughter, Barbara; one son, William, in infancy; a son-in-law, Larry Folkmann; two brothers, Everett and Emory, and five sisters, Irma, Lela, Grayce, Lenore and Dorothy.
