Roland Dean Lee, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Methodist Church by Director of Ministries Deb Black, with military honors by American Legion Post 727. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and Tuesday after 10 a.m. at the church.

Roland is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Lori (Kevin) Bestick of Cedar Rapids and Annette (Tom) Bracha of Manhattan, Mont.; five sons, Steven (Connie) Lee of Huxley, George (Kate) Hinton of Chicago, Jeff Hinton of Goodyear, Ariz., Chris Baker of Scottsdale, Ariz., and James (Angel) Baker of Centennial, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, Cory (Ashlie), Christina, Benjamin (Hannah), Samuel, Claire, Paul, Madeline, Josiah, Kylee, Zachery, Wade, Hannah and Samantha; one great-grandson, Cameron; and a great-grandson expected in August; his favorite niece, Julie Sanich of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his longtime childhood friend, Norman "Gunner" Hopkins of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry.

Roland was born the son of Harry and Frances Jones Lee on Aug. 10, 1932, in Williamsburg and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids in 1950. He married Patricia Lee Pealer on Sept. 1, 1978, in Cedar Rapids at Asbury United Methodist Church. He retired in 1992 as an accountant after 41 years with Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. He served in the Navy as a codebreaker during Korea.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 251 and was a past master of Mizpah Lodge 639 A.F & A.M.

Roland loved spending time with his grandchildren and found enjoyment as a refinisher of furniture. He always looked for opportunities to spend time fishing, camping, to be outdoors, and he also was an avid horseman.

Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
