Mary L. Davis, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 3, 2016, at her home. Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial Calvary Cemetery, Marengo.

Survivors include her children, Phil (Traci) Davis of Western and Dawn Bates of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters, Ashley (Ed) English and Jena Davis, all of Cedar Rapids, Jaime Brown of Coralville, Jodi (Nate) Peters of Syracuse, N.Y., and Janele Brown of Cedar Rapids; brother, Lawrence "Skeeter" McGurk of Walford; sisters-in-law, Donna McGurk of Cedar Rapids, Sylvia Wilkerson of North English and Sherry Fangmann of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jowayne; parents; brother, Francis "Drake" McGurk; and sister, Margaret "Maggie" Kirby.

Mary was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Maude (O'Rourke) McGurk. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1952. On March 2, 1953, she married Jowayne Davis in Biloxi, Miss. The couple lived in Mississippi while her husband served in the military. Then they moved to Iowa where she worked for United Fire and later for FMC-Link Belt. She then moved to Kentucky to continue work at FMC-Link Belt. Mary moved to back to Iowa to work at RJ Kool Company, until retiring in 1999. She was a member of FMC reunion committee and the Eagles Club. Mary loved her kids, grandchildren, many friends, supporting her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and her Irish Heritage. She also loved the outside and nature.
