Williamsburg Marion Lewis Grant was born the son of Harold Page and Rosa C. (Edwards) Grant on January 19, 1926 in Ainsworth, Iowa. He and his family moved to Williamsburg in 1936.

Marion attended Williamsburg High School until his senior year when he was drafted into the United States Navy which he served as a Seabe’s in WWII from 1944 until 1946. After the service he worked for the Central Iowa Telephone Company in Williamsburg and Conrad, which he was the manager.

Marion returned to Williamsburg and worked as a salesman for Yoder Motor Company which he later purchased and changed the name to Grant Motor Company. He owned and operated the Ford dealership for 18 years retiring in 1979.

Marion enjoyed doing woodworking, stain glass, fishing, golfing and reading. Marion was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, past president of Williamsburg Kiwanis Club, American Legion, the Iburg Poulson VFW Post #8797, past president of the Commercial Club and past president of Town & Country Housing in Williamsburg.

Marion passed away with his family by his side on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 90 years.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis [Simmons] of Williamsburg; four children: Debra (Allen) Taylor of Iowa City, Linda (Kevin) Klotz of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Marie (Gary) Moen of Cedar Rapids and Mark Marion Grant (fiancé Sharon)of Austin, TX; 10 Grandchildren; 9 Great grandchildren 3 brother: Max (Judy) Grant of Williamsburg, Milford (Alice) Grant of Webster City, Jim (Kathy) Grant of Baxter and a sister: Marilyn (Don) Nidey of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Harold and Melvin Grant; a sister: Marjorie Wilson and twin great granddaughters.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Pilot Grove Cemetery with military rites by the Iburg Poulson VFW Post #8797. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. There will be a VFW Service at 7:00pm.

Memorial are for Safe Haven of Iowa County or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
