Dennis "Denny" Miles, age 74 of Norway, Iowa died Saturday, February 6, 2016, after a long battle with COPD. A private family viewing and prayer service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis's name may be given to Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Dennis is survived by his wife Pat, and four children Curtis (Meg) of La Grange, Illinois, Christine Brigham (Lynn) of Portland, Oregon, Corey of Tiffin, Iowa and Casey of Boston, Massachusetts, and his beloved grandkids Jackson and Wyatt. Dennis also leaves behind one of his closest friends, his sister Judie (Lowell) Hockett of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis was born January 16, 1942, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Denver and Verna [Sackett] Miles. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1960. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Dennis was a communications specialist who served in the Philippines during the Korean War. Dennis married Pat Cline, January 8, 1966. He served as a foreman at the Wilson & Company meat packing plant for over thirty years before becoming a truck driver. He was a successful high school athlete in both baseball and football. He took tremendous pride in the time he spent playing football in the military while stationed overseas and the many years he pitched fast-pitch softball in the Cedar Rapids Industrial league. Dennis and his family lived on a small acreage just outside of Norway for the last 40 years where his greatest joy came from spending time with his heroes--his two grandsons. He was a huge sports fan who bled Hawkeye black and gold as passionately as he cheered for his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Veterans Hospital in Iowa City for the incredible care and support that they provided over the years, as well as the heart-felt care that he received from Lakeview Assisted Living in Amana, Iowa.

Memorials can be sent in Dennis Miles name, to Iowa City VA Medical Center, 601 Hwy 6 West, Iowa City, Iowa 52246
