Williamsburg-Charles Randall Stewart was born January 10, 1951 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Ewers) Stewart. He attended Egypt Country School near Lovilia and graduated from Albia High School in 1970. He attended Indian Hills in Ottumwa and took Theology courses through Global University and served in the National Guard for 6 years.

Charlie was united in marriage to Dorothea “Dotty” Jones on October 14, 1983 at the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg. Charlie worked as a welder for John Deere in Ottumwa for 31 years and was ordained as a minister through the A.F.M.C. He and Dotty lived in Ottumwa until they purchased their farm outside of Bloomfield where they raise their family.

While in Bloomfield Charlie was a Deacon at the Bethlehem Christian Church for a number of years. In 2005 the moved to Williamsburg. He enjoyed working at Stone Creek Golf Course and volunteering. Charlie was active with the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Merry Monkey Makers, Meals on Wheels and the Kiwanis Club. He served as President of the Town and Country board and was active in the Promise Keepers for a number of years. He loved spending time with his family, helping people and fishing.

Charlie passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo at the age of 65 years.

He is survived by his wife Dotty; a son: Michael Stewart (Robin Carnahan) of Ottumwa; a daughter: Michele Baughan (Nathan) of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Kayla Walker (Ryan), Mackenzie Stewart, Natasha Stewart, Mallorie Stewart, Madalyn Baughan and Mary Lou Baughan; a great grandson: Hayden Swallow; five sisters: Karen Casper of Milan, Illinois, Margaret Van Langen (Dale) of Adel, Claudia Farrell(Ron) of Branson, Missouri, Debby Conner (Bill) of Lovilia, Bess Powers of Wapello; two brothers: Stephen Stewart (Ginny) of Bussey and David Stewart (Kim) of Lovilia and an aunt: Alberta Stewart of Albia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:30 am in the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.

Burial will be at the Osborne Cemetery near Lovilia.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Iowa County Meals on Wheels, Association of Fundamental Ministers and Churches (AFMC)or U of I Hospitals and Clinics Volunteers.
