Barbara Wilkinson, age 88 of Marengo, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with a Rosary recited at 4 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.

Barbara is survived by her son, John, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Germantown, TN and her daughter Leslie of Marengo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 2012, and two sisters, Shirley Mort and Marge Larson.

Barbara Tompkins was born September 17, 1927 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin F. Tompkins and Edna Randolph Tompkins. She attended the Marengo schools. She and John Wilkinson were united in marriage on November 8, 1946 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. She worked at Amana Refrigeration during John’s time in the service. They moved to Laughlin, NV in 1986 at the time of John’s retirement. He passed away August 13, 2012, and Barbara and Leslie returned to Marengo shortly after. Barbara enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She spent her free time playing bridge, video poker, reading and traveling. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo.
