Francis Carroll McMann Sr. of Cedar Rapids passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, surrounded by his family at his home. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, officiated by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky, with a visitation before at 1 p.m. A visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m., with a rosary service at 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery following cremation.

Francis was born May 9, 1920, in Marengo, Iowa, to Clinton and Mary (McGivern) McMann. Francis married Wilma Kimm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Marengo on Aug. 6, 1940. They moved to Cedar Rapids in December 1940, when he started employment at Collins Radio. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Collins Radio until he retired in 1982.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788, American Legion Post 298, American Federation of Musicians Local 137, Cedar Rapids Elks Lodge 251 and USA Dance Club.

His hobbies were music and ballroom dancing which he enjoyed to the fullest. He was a student of the Arthur Murray International School of Dance for many years.

Francis is survived by his son, Francis Jr. (Carolyn) McMann of Marion; daughter, Diane (Mark) Bedell of Iowa City; son-in-law, Dave Newmister of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo McMann of Frankfort, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Possehl of Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 40 years, Wilma; his son, Keith; daughter, Kim; and brothers, Edward, Paul, James, Joseph, Vincent and Urban.

He wants to thank his friends and acquaintances, especially his caregiver, Joanne Fox, and those of the YMCA (Health and Fitness Center) for all the love and support.
